The Ferry Goes Hollywood

We always knew the Ferry had star quality, and it looks like it’s finally getting its big break after a month in which it had some relation to three film productions. We mentioned that the heroes Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may need to take the Cape May-Lewes Ferry to get back and forth between Gotham and Metropolis. The next week, the Ferry made headlines along with Cape May Brewing Co. in an April Fools Day video that went viral. However, that did not mark the end of the Ferry’s movie star month, as a huge film crew boarded the vessel to get some shots for their upcoming production.

The movie, tentatively titled Wetlands (not to be confused with the previous film of the same name), is written and directed by Emanuele Della Valle, and stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje who is best known for his role as Mr. Eko on the TV show Lost.

The crew arrived for the shoot before dawn, and worked all morning to make sure that everything was set according to plan. This meant getting the sound equipment, the props (which included three cars!), and several different cameras and screens onto the car deck, along with the actor and dozens of film crew members.DSCF3542

After everything was in its right place and everyone was on the deck of the vessel, the filming began. The filming took place on the car deck of the MV New Jersey while it was docked. Several different cameras were running, and sound engineers had their headphones on, while and crew members were throwing pieces of bread around out of the frame in an attempt to attract seagulls for the background.

There is no release date set for Wetlands yet, but we’re looking forward to seeing the finished product!
